With regard to the newspaper report that “The amendment of Act of Military Service allowed early discharge with payment of indemnities, may trigger lots of discharge of pilots and military doctors”, the Ministry explain as follows:

1. The amendment of the Act of Military Service for Officers and Noncommissioned Officers of the Armed Forces is resolved by the Legislative Yuan considering factors such as the interests of military personnel and maintaining the combat power of the national army, and regulated that “can discharge from the army with more than 1 year of service period in the current position and have submitted application and approved by the human resources advisory committee” in the 10^th subparagraph of the 1^st paragraph of the 15^th article, and formulated the compensation regulation as the prescribed service period in the enrollment regulation have not been fully served.

2. The Ministry is currently diligently studying for relevant procedures and mechanism including the evaluation of maintaining unit combat power, whether special reasons should be included, the process of the convention of human resources advisory committee and the formulation of the compensation regulation, the approval level should be Lieutenant Officer or above it, the relevant mechanism is still under planning and will be handled upon completion.

3. Before the issuing of relevant process, the service period still should be completed and the compensation process should follow the rules of the enrollment regulation, the newspaper report that lots of discharge may be triggered is not true and we appeal that media should not do speculations by themselves.
